It contains some advanced mathematics, and is therefore more suited for college students, (ambitious) high school students, or engineers and the like, with an interest in physics and the mathematical description of the behavior of a guitar string. </div> <bR> <div> The 1-dimensional wave equation, and its role in the description of a vibrating string, is a well-known subject in all introductory physics books. However, the description of a wound string is not as easy to find (at least not in the Internet), which made me decide to write this article and publish it here. </div> <bR> <div> I checked the article for errors only once. Experience has demonstrated that is not enough to get all the typos out.
